When you are familiar with the pathwork lectures or when you start reading them you will understand that this immense body of psychological, philosophical and spiritual wisdom can not come from the human mind. The Pathwork Guide Lectures were given between 1957 and 1979 by a spiritual being who came to be known as the guide. Through the medium Eva Pierrakos the guide gave the lectures which were recorded and written down. The guide has stressed that not the mode of this communication is important but the teachings themselves.
Where do I start reading in these 2500 pages, you might ask. One answer is: with any subject you are interested in, so search for the word in the left column or in the original Pathwork Lectures Depth Search or browse through the titles of the pathwork lectures.
The second answer: the pathwork lectures can be roughly outlined as follows. The first 24 are mainly concerned with spirituality, cosmology, creation and evolution in language that connects with Western religious traditions. With lecture 25 the pathwork in its true sense starts:
- the search within yourself for your real feelings, emotions, thoughts and attitudes;
- the questioning of ideas you hold about yourself and life;
- psychological and spiritual self-development.
Gradually but clearer and clearer from about lecture 150 onward spirituality in a deeper and more scientific way comes to the fore, still alternating with depth psychology. Lecture 223 witnesses the start of lectures about the era of the New Age and the changes in the development of mankind it brings. Deep spiritual subjects are intertwined with these lectures. In general you can say the pathwork lectures go from relatively simple and superficial to deep and subtle subjects. Reread this last line please and notice ‘relatively’.
